I have a semi-dedicated hosting package with hostgator for 3 months.
After switching 2 hosts i think i found the final stop.
i didn't have any technical problem and the live support chat really helped me to setup some features to work.
I don't know about the other shared packages but I feel safe to recommend the "Swamp" hosting package.

host gator has a dedicated servers department which offers a wide selection of good deals in reasonable prices.
the ONLY problem is that they usually ran out of servers and you really need to hunt them. I caught mine by chance - and i'm pleased.

hi,
I am using the companies "baby" hosting package for a few months now, and i must say i quite pleased.
first, their support team seems professional for now. they helped me with dns problems & gave me SSH permissions quickly. the host itself seems to hold and even though my scripts are using a lot of CPU everything is working fine and i got no complaints from them.

I don't know why so many people purchase a package with hostgator. I tried to use their linux hosting package and I had a lot of trouble with it.
the web host itself is working fine, but when you ask simple requests it is better to work with a smaller web hosting company.
I asked them to help me to find a web developer that can help me with errors I got on one of my scripts and they were reluctant to help.
Another exmple, I had trouble to login to my cpanel at hostgator. they said it's probably a problem with my firewall and added they cannot help further with this problem.
I think support is the most important thing. I turned to a friends of mine who owns a smaller web hosting company and the guy made everything work!
